Adrian Martinez

Adrian Martinez is a native of northern New Mexico. He grew up in the Española valley and the village of Santa Cruz de la Cañada. From an early age he learned about oil painting and carving from his father, artist, Adres Martinez. Growing up with Heavy Metal music, Low Riders, the looming nuclear laboratories of Los Alamos, including a strong connection to the land and history of the region, his work is both primal and futuristic. Adrian earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the University of New Mexico. He is a father and an art teacher at the South Valley Academy in Albuquerque, NM. He has been a part of numerous art shows and projects, including showings at St. John’s University in New York, and the city of Morelia in Michoacán, México.

What keeps you creating?

I create because I love to make all types of art. I will go nuts if I don't.

How do you see the future?

I see the near future as a very transitional time as far as humanity. I see the earth getting tired of us using her and sticking our dirty dicks and hoses in her to suck out all or her fluids. I think she's gonna shake us off like a dog shakes off fleas. The problem is that we are not all date-rapers but were gonna be guilty by association. But we will live on.
